Custom designed, large capacity phase separator now available
Campbell, CA (July 12, 2006) Cryotech International, Inc. (formerly VBS International), a leader in cryogenic transfer systems, announced today that they have recently begun building and installing custom made phase separators to meet the needs of customers requiring high volume phase separators for MBE applications and other special high volume LN2 applications.
Cryotech’s Phase Separator is a stainless steel, vacuum jacketed vessel designed to store liquid nitrogen (LN2) under atmospheric pressure. The phase separator is filled by a LN2 source, such as a bulk tank or dewar. The level of LN2 inside the phase separator is controlled electronically via a pressure differential system. The reservoir is vented to atmosphere at all times ensuring that the pressure inside is equal to the atmosphere. This results in pure saturated LN2.
Pipe drops are attached to the bottom of the phase separator to route LN2 down to tools. Some tools require the LN2 to recirculate through them and back to the phase separator. This is achieved with drops designed for feeding and returning. Used in specialized applications requiring extremely high quality, low pressure liquid nitrogen on demand, a Cryotech Phase Separator typically has from 2 to 10 bayonet outlets for pipe drops and a capacity ranging from 6 to 11 (22.7 to 41.6 liters) gallons or higher. Due to recent requests for a larger capacity Phase Separator, Cryotech engineers designed a high volume unit with 120 liter (37.7 gallons) capacity to meet their needs.
